It was a cool sunny day at Vatuwaqa on Saturday, which had attracted another good turnout of golf enthusiasts. There were 132 starters, who played in a Sigatoka Electric Ltd. sponsored versus par tournament, which was played under play-the-lie. Again the course has been maintained in a top condition as evident in good scores.
Young Mohammed Rizwan, who scored plus 7 in the A grade won the first prize in the grade, while DS Oh, plus 6, and Kevin Maitava, plus 5, won the second and third prizes, respectively in the grade.
The B grade was won by the SS Oh, plus 7, from Mohit Prasad, plus 6, who won the second prize on counback. The former Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, who had also scored plus 6, lost to Mohit Prasad on countback won the third prize in the B grade.
There were good scores recorded in the C grade. Ravindra Lal, plus 7, won the C grade on countback from Craig Brimson, who won the second prize. Trevor Nainoca, plus 6, won the third place in the grade.
Rose Sue, plus 7, won the ladies silver division, while Allison Dally, plus 9, won the bronze division in the Ladies’ category.
Roy Ugra won the nearest-to-pin prize for the fifth hole, while Jun Yun Ho won the sixteenth hole.
Telecom Fiji Ltd will sponsor the September monthly medal tournament on Saturday, which is expected to attract another good field.
