The weather man had provided a perfect weather condition for golf on Saturday. It had attracted 114 golfers to the Vatuwaqa golf course to play in a stableford event, which was sponsored by the Carpenters Shipping.
Chandra Goundar played a good even round of golf, 72 in the tournament to win a prize for the best overall gross.
A men’s A grade was won by Abdul Hakim, who scored 43 stableford points. The second and third places were won by Mohammed Rizwan, 40 and Marika Vada, 38, respectively.
Gavin Skinner, 43 stableford points won a first prize in B grade, while second and third prizes in the grade were won by John Tevita, 40 and Adish Naidu, 38 respectively.
A first prize in the C grade was won by Alfred Tuatoko, who scored 47 stableford points. The second and third prizes in the grade were won by Jarrot Turner, 40 on count back from Mohammed Ishak.
Lyndall Fisher, 36 points won a first prize in the ladies’ silver division, while Agnes Managreve, 35 points won a second prize in the division. Kamini Lata Singh, 37 points won a first prize, while Cheryl Bowden, 35 points won a second prize on countback from Allison Dally, who earned a third prize in the ladies’ Bronze division.
The nearest-to-pin prizes were won by Keshwa Reddy and Basdeo Lal for the twelfth and sixteenth holes.
The club will sponsor a Dewali Day stableford event on Wednesday. Players may report to the starter at their preferred tee off time between 08.00 am and 12.00 pm. A normal entry fee applies.
In the meantime, Mechanical Services Ltd. will sponsor a monthly medal event on Saturday 29th Oct. 2011. It will be a shot gun start. Players must report to the starter at 11.30 am for a 12.30 pm shot gun start.
