Fiji Golf Club 2011 Season closing ambrose golf event played on Saturday was yet another great success story with a lots of fun and excitements thanks to the sponsors, Bank South Pacific. The sponsors also hosted a cocktail party for the players during the prize giving. They had also provided Kava shelters in the fairways to entertain the players.
The weather man had provided another fine weather although there were a few showers late in the afternoon, which did not dampen the spirit of the golfers.
The Fiji Country Manager of BSP, Kevin McCarthy had promised the bank will continue their sponsorship of the event next season.
There were three major team prizes up for grab. The day belonged to a winning team of Nathan Kirk, Simon Harper, Russell Gibson and Jim Hall, who had scored 55.5 strokes net to scope a first prize. The second team prize of the tournament was won by a team led by the FGC Club Captain, Fili Kau, who had scored 57.12 net strokes on countback. The team members were Fili Kau, Mala Naiyaga, Nalin Patel and Stuart Murray. A team of James Raman Jnr, Mark Swamy, Feizel Hanif and Conway Begg, who lost on countback won a third prize in the tournament.
There were nearest-to-the-hole prizes on all par 3 holes. The prizes were won by Darrayn Sunnex, Rajesh Raj, Alvin Sharma and Vili Rauluni on second, fifth, twelfth and sixteenth holes, respectively.
In addition, there were longest drives for both men and ladies on the thirteenth hole, which were won by Rizwan Hassan and Claire Mariner, respectively.
Furthermore, there were also two novelty prizes on offer, which were won by Malcolm Paterson and Dennis Fong.
